Rules & Regulations for theGreyhound Festival of the Bluegrass The Shamrock Greyhounds are very excited to be hosting this inaugural event. That being said - it is our first year and surely we are going to make mistakes, so please be patient & kind. We are all dedicated volunteers and we are truly doing the best we can. Sometimes it may seem like it is not enough, but please keep a smile on your face & enjoy your Greyhound weekend. The following are a list of rules & regulations that will be in place for the weekend. Please print these out and read them. Hotel Accomodations: The Holiday Inn Hurstbourne is very excited about hosting a weekend of Greyhounds. Let's show them how wonderful our Greyhounds truly are. If your hound has an accident, please clean it up immediately. If you cannot, please notify an event volunteer for assistance. Please be respectful of hotel rooms. Do not leave your dog unattended if they are not use to being left. Muzzling them to avoid damage to the room is encouraged. Please walk your dogs outside often. There is a potty area provided and please try to use this location if possible. Please clean up all of your animals waste. Water: Please put your dog's water bowl in the bathroom on the tile floor or bring plastic to put under the bowl if they must be on carpet. Food: Please cleanup if your dog is a messy eater. Beds: Please bring adequate bedding for your animal. Your Greyhound will need a soft surface to lie on while attending classes and during human meals. If you cannot provide bedding for your dogs during these sessions, please do not attend. Nothing is more disturbing than a tired Greyhound without a bed on which to lie. If you dog(s) are going to use one of the hotel beds, please bring a sheet from home to cover the bed. That way you can take your dog hair home with you. Crates: These are not required, but if your dog is use to them please bring them for your room. Muzzles: Please bring a muzzle if you are going to leave your Greyhound unattended in the hotel room. If your dog has issues with meeting new dogs - or is not friendly - please have your dog muzzled throughout the event. This will prevent any potential problems with hounds. Shedding: Greyhounds do shed - particularly when stressed. Please bring paper towels or whatever you use to wipe your Greyhound down. Please don't pet a shedding dog and then leave the hair on the hotel floor - please dispose of it in properly. Accidents: Please clean up any accidents immediately. If you cannot please notify an event volunteer, so they can address the matter. We want to leave a good impression with the hotel and although we know accidents will occur, we want them cleaned ASAP. Be sure to walk your dog often to avoid accidents. If your dog lifts his leg on the building, please wash it down with water to avoid attracting flies. This is your responsibility as a responsible pet owner. If you are walking your dog and you forget your poop bags, please ask another Greyhound owner for one. Please do not walk off and ignore your mess. Attendee Responsibilities: This is a Greyhound only event. Leashes: No flexi-leads are to be used during the Festival. Please bring a lead no longer than a 6ft for your hound. It is your responsibility to keep an eye on your hound. If your dog becomes stressed or tired, it may be time to retire to your hotel room for a rest. Always be aware of what is going on around you. X-pens: There will not be room in the Grand Ballroom for you to set up an x-pen. Your dog(s) must be kept on lead and under your control at all times. Please do provide bedding for your Greyhound(s) as it is going to be a long weekend for them. Dog Aggression or Insecurity: If your dog displays aggression of any kind they would be better left at home. If you must bring them, then they MUST wear a red bandana at all times. You are responsible for supplying the bandana. You should also put a muzzle on your Greyhound when he is in large groups. It is your responsibility to warn others to stay away from your dog. Not following this simple rule could ruin someone's weekend. By insecure or aggressive behaviors, we mean any behavior (space, alpha, fear, shyness, etc) that could cause your dog to growl or bite another dog or person. This does not mean you have a bad dog, just one that may not be comfortable in these large gathering. If this description fits your Greyhound, we strongly encourage you to leave them at home. Muzzles: Please bring muzzles for each of your hounds if you intend to leave them unattended in a hotel room. Also, all red bandana dogs should wear a muzzle when they are in large groups. Leashed: All Greyhounds will be leashed at all times. They also will be under their humans' control - i.e.: do not tie your Greyhound to your table/chair when you are eating. ID Tags: Please be sure your Greyhound has up to date ID tags in the event they get loose. SAFETY: Please keep safety in mind all weekend. Please gauge your dog's mood and don't push them. If they need a break - give it to them. Your priority is your hound and if you need to miss something to accommodate them then that is your responsibility. Shamrock Greyhound Placement & Holiday Inn Hurstbourne are not responsible for any mishaps, accidents, misdemeanors, whatever, etc of any participants - human or hound. |
